Guilty Pleasures......

I don't usually get cravings for sweet things since baking for a living but today I feel like some cheesecake or brownies........ does anyone else for guilty for NOT wanting to bake for yourself?? I want to sit down with something and enjoy it straight away, not have to bake it first!! (Although that said, I do feel guilty if I don't make my own!)

Another question is where to buy them from, a supermarket and I know it won't be as good as homemade, farm shop and they will be good but what farm shops are open at 4.30 pm?? Where do all you bakers out there, dare I say it, BUY cakes or puddings from? And what is your guilty pleasure?

One thing I love is a packet of Bourbon biscuits and a big mug of tea to dunk them in!! And yes, I have been known to get through a whole packet! Doughnuts are another weakness of mine, I have made Ring doughnuts..... they were cute but heavier than shop bought and I also tried Lemon Meringue Doughnuts, they looked like profiteroles but I am assured they were very nice..... they didn't last long enough for me to try so that must be a good sign! Bite sized doughnut balls, filled with Lemon curd and topped with a toasted meringue....  Now I want doughnuts, brownies and cheesecake, oh and Bourbons and a mug of tea!!

Maybe I should find some housework to do and earn them?

Well todays ramblings are over, would love to hear about your Guilty Pleasures and if you ever buy cakes and puddings......

Happy eating and baking!

Just a short one!!

Ok so I was sitting having a coffee after doing laundry and a bit of housework (and making lists of new flavours.... White Chocolate and Strawberry Cheesecake sounds a good one!) when someone hinted that they wanted to be introduced on the Blog, mainly by walking across the keyboard and bringing me to the "new post" bit!!

So here she is.......... meet Tink, the Kate's Cupcakes Dog!!

Here she is enjoying the sunshine! She sometimes gets to test the cakes and has not found one that she doesn't like yet..........

A little bit about her: Tink is a Rescue dog, I am told a Patterdale cross Border Terrier but then I have been told she could be a Staffy cross Lakeland Terrier too..... guess I will never know! She is approximately 9 years old (don't tell her I said so but she is going a bit grey around her eyes and has a cute little grey beard) , still thinks she is 9 months and suffers from "little dog syndrome"!! She is definitely a Mummy's girl, hardly leaves my side apart from when she isn't allowed in the kitchen and then she sulks! A sun worshiper through and through, I have had to force her inside when its too hot, well you know what they say about Mad Dogs and Englishmen and she is far from a "Normal" dog!!

So now hopefully she won't walk across my laptop anymore, she is a blogged about dog!!

Now back to work in peace!!

My First Blog post!!!

Well here we are, it was only a matter of time before I jumped on the bandwagon and started my own blog! Everyone says I tend to ramble on about my favourite subject so what better name for it than Kate's Cupcaking Ramblings!!

I have been having a long discussion with a friend tonight about sourcing Cupcake Cases and other cupcakey things for my business, the USA have so many beautiful things, I just want to go on holiday just to buy some Cupcake Cases!!! Although I do think that some of them are so pretty, I wouldn't want to use them! I am going to look into buying them in bulk from the States and selling them on to like minded Cupcakers, so if you are interested get in touch.

Cupcake boxes were another point of discussion, especially Giant Cupcake Boxes! I am going to make it my goal to find a manufacturer who will make them for me..... wish me luck! hehe

Anyway, onto more fun things...... baking!! I have seen lots of ideas that I am going to be trying out, Smores Cupcakes (from the states) a heavenly mix of Chocolate, Marshmallow and a digestive type biscuit. It will be fun to see those turn out, I will post pics!!

I have had some great feedback on my cupcakes and Cheesecakes recently, always nice to get as I do tend to put my work down and don't really give myself the credit I deserve. Not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing! Definitely going to be working on more flavours of Cheesecake, am thinking Apple Crumble Cheesecake sounds good!

Anyway, I think thats enough for my very first blog post! I will be back with more ramblings very soon :0)

Happy Baking all
